Catching Fundamentals and Techniques focuses on the fundamental techniques and strategies that a catcher must learn to play the most demanding position on the baseball diamond. Biography
- Bob Bennett is the former head baseball coach at Fresno State University and one of the winningest Division I coaches of all time. His career record of 1302-759-4 ranks seventh on the NCAA Division I all-time victory list. During 34 seasons (1970-2002, plus a year as FSU’s interim head coach in 1967) at Fresno State, Bennett led his teams to extraordinary success, winning or sharing 17 conference titles, earning 1302 victories (an average of 40 wins per season), and making two trips to the College World Series. For his achievements, Bennett was honored several times, including being named Conference Coach of the Year 14 times and NCAA Coach of the Year in 1988. He also received the Lefty Gomez Award for his lifetime contribution to baseball. Bennett, who was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1992, was also heavily involved in baseball at the international level, serving as head coach of the U.S. National Team in 1983 and 1986 and serving on the National Team’s coaching staff in 1977 and 1979. Bennett and his wife, Karen, have three children, Karen, Brad, and Todd, and eight grandchildren.
