Applying Concepts of the 30 Stack to the Bear Defense details how to fit 30 stack personnel into
a non-traditional Bear alignment and how to incorporate pressure and defensive-line
movements that are similar to the principles of the 30 stack. The DVD explains how coaches can
add selected short-yardage, goal line, and situational Bear concepts to the 30-stack scheme to
their team’s defense. This approach helps keep defensive players from having to learn multiple
techniques and allows coaches to create vastly different defensive fronts without being forced to
deal with large-scale personnel changes.
Among the topics covered:
- Advantages of the Bear
- Defensive terminology
- Front movement and alignment variations
- Stunt package
- Pressure package
- Film cut-ups

Biography
- John Wren is the head football coach and defensive coordinator at his interscholastic alma mater, South Bakersfield (CA) High School. During his career, he has had the opportunity to work with several exceptional coaching mentors, including the late Steve Strauss to whom he dedicates this DVD. He strongly believes that football coaches, especially at the high school level, need to use football as a vehicle to transform the lives of the players they serve. As a head coach, he has anchored his program on four key principles: fostering a team-based environment, molding the character necessary to secure a lifetime of servant-based leadership, ensuring that each player maximizes his education, and developing an athletic environment in which players are allowed to achieve competitive excellence.
